Recommended drinks with our yokan

While yokan is typically paired with Japanese green tea, it goes surprisingly well with many other drinks, including alcoholic beverages. We hope you will try them for yourself!

We recommend:
Champagne and other sparkling wines
Whiskey and calvados
Coffee
Black tea
Herbal teas, especially verbena, mint, or nettle tea
Freshly squeezed lemonade

We also recommend the petite size yokan as a great snack to have on hand at the office, on-the-go, for hiking or even as an energy boost during a marathon.

Arranged recipes with our yokan

Combining yokan with other ingredients and pairing it with drinks can really enhance your enjoyment of this traditional Japanese sweet. Here, we share a few simple recipes and ideas.

Loved by New Yorkers: Yokan Sandwich

Using a peeler, make very thin slices of yokan. Spread cream cheese on sandwich bread, top with yokan and close the sandwich. The cream cheese and yokan go incredibly well together.

Yokan Ganache Truffles

Cut yokan into cubes and sprinkle with unsweetened cocoa powder to coat all surfaces. The combination of yokan and cocoa powder creates a rich flavor and a texture just like chocolate ganache.

Rum-Marinated Dried Fruits on Yokan

Top slices of yokan with a selection of your favorite rum-soaked dried fruits, such as apricots, prunes and figs. Your dinner dessert just got a little fancier!
