Suiko

Suiko

The flavor of wasambon sugar is showcased in these pink and white dry confections (higashi) named for Empress Suiko, who reigned during the 7th century. The angular pattern is modeled on the design for the balustrade at Horyuji Temple’s main hall, built near Nara during Empress Suiko’s reign.
