Nihonbashi Store

The shop used to be a tea room named “Mikaku” which opened at the foot of Nihonbashi Bridge in 1946. Since it was difficult to continue manufacturing wagashi due to shortage of ingredients,
Mikaku served Western style items like coffee and ice cream alongside shiruko (sweet azuki bean soup) and zouni (rice cake soup). Later, when it became possible to start manufacturing authentic wagashi again, the shop was renewed as Toraya Nihonbashi Shop in 1948 and has been operating to date.
