Kyoto Ichijo Store
Located near the Kyoto Imperial Palace, Toraya Karyo Kyoto Ichijo Shop is where Toraya has long served as a purveyor to the Imperial court. It is known that Toraya has been operating in this place at least since 1628. At Toraya Karyo, visitors can enjoy Toraya’s confections while viewing the beautiful garden that shows different expressions every season as well as the traditional architectures of an Inari Shrine and a storehouse from Edo period. There is also a collection of about 600 books on Japanese culture free for visitors to take a look. Exhibitions and lectures on Kyoto are occasionally held in the adjoining Toraya Kyoto Gallery.
